Why count in the buyer's working days

A tender that closes "in three weeks" can hold fewer working days than it seems once two weekends and a public holiday fall inside it, and the buyer's week may not be your week: a team in the UAE bidding to a buyer in Doha, Manama or Muscat works on a Friday the buyer does not. Counting in the buyer's week shows how many days the bid team really has to read, price, write and get the bond in.

Work backwards from the closing day: leave the last working day for submission on the portal, put the bond and company documents a few days before it, and give pricing its own deadline. The bid pipeline lesson covers the stages, and the bid pipeline calculator how many tenders your target needs.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator count public holidays?

No. It counts weekends only, in the buyer's working week. The bid desk in Ishara also skips expected Hijri holidays. Always confirm a deadline against the notice.

    Which weekends does it use?

Friday and Saturday for buyers in Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, and Saturday and Sunday for buyers in the UAE. Pick the buyer's market, not your own.

    How is the count made?

From the day after the start date up to and including the closing day, every day that is not a weekend in the buyer's market counts as one working day. The closing time on the notice still matters: a noon deadline leaves half of the last day.

Is anything I type stored or sent?

No. The count runs in your browser on this page. Nothing you enter is stored, transmitted or logged.
